Flax Pen to Paper has been family owned since 1931 when Meyer Flax opened his first art supply store on 7th Street in downtown Los Angeles. Little did he know that what he started would become a Westwood Village landmark. The legendary FLAX Art Supplies at the famous Lindbrook location (one of the first stores in Westwood Village) opened in 1950 by Meyer’s son Harvey Flax. For over 50 years it stood as a monument to creative people who came from all over the city. In 2002, Joan Flax, 3rd generation Flax family member, and her husband Phil Clark, opened Flax Pen to Paper on Gayley in Westwood Village.

Joan and Phil created a place where pens and paper are sold together in a completely unique way- where people enjoy spending their time.
