Alhambra Unified School District added 5 new photos.
Last week, Mark Keppel High School celebrated the grand opening of its new gymnasium foyer and dance studio by holding a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Aztec marching band began the event with a brief performance before giving way to Principal John Scanlan, who thanked all those who made these projects possible and introduced notable guests such as board members Jane Anderson, Robert Gin and Assistant Superintendent Gary Gonzales. Following the ribbon cutting, all in attendance were welcomed inside to observe the new structures and enjoy some refreshments.

Students, parents and teachers had a wonderful time at Emery Park's annual 3rd grade Family Math Night. This event was created to familiarize parents with the concepts being taught in class while also promoting a fun, positive learning environment for students. Teachers administered a multitude of games which were based on topics such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and fractions. After the games were done, students received medals and attendees enjoyed some delicious refreshments.

Alhambra Unified School District added 7 new photos.
Last week, Park Elementary celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a school-wide fiesta open to all students and their families. Parent volunteers teamed up with the school staff to set up various food booths where guests could indulge in some of their favorite Mexican cuisine. There were also a variety of games for students to play such as loteria, jumping beans and a sombrero toss. To close the event, a group of talented students performed a Mexican themed dance routine which sparked applause from all in attendance.

MKHS teacher Jim Horton earns CAT High School Automotive Teacher of the Year award…

Congratulations to MKHS teacher Jim Horton, who was selected by the California Automotive Teacher (CAT) Association as High School Automotive Teacher of the Year. Jim has been an AUSD teacher since 1988 and has turned MKHS' auto shop classes into an award winning program that produces many sought after technicians. Under Jim's leadership, students complete a rigorous automotive curriculum and have the opportunity to earn Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.
