FAQs

What is the best way to contact you (for prices, availability, trades, general questions)?
The best way to contact us for anything would be to come into our store during regular business hours as sometimes we get very busy and cannot spend much time on the phone (Phone is the second best choice). Contacting us via a Facebook message is hit or miss. We often don’t have time to check it much during the business day, and it often gets checked from home, so we can’t always immediately respond to questions about what is in stock. You can also send us an email, but it may take a day or two to respond.

What do you charge for transfers?
We charge $20 for transfers ($5 for law enforcement). If you would like us to ship a gun to another FFL it is $50 to ship.

How can I know what guns you can get me and at what price?
The best way to do this is to go to All of our distributors feed into that site, so if it is on the website we can almost always order it (sometimes it is a few hours behind in updating, but it usually won’t show the price on low inventory items).

Do you buy used guns?
Yes we do, however they MUST be brought in to get a value. We do not do evaluations over the phone or online as we need to see the condition, the exact model, and check different marking to make sure we properly identify.

AK or AR?
It depends. Trends are changing right now since the availability of cheap surplus ammo for the AK is declining, and the price of AKs are increasing. Where AR prices are becoming more affordable and the .223 ammo market has improved. Both are great rifles, but there is a lot of personal taste involved. ARs are generally much more customizable, and are liked for being lightweight and you can change out receivers to change calibers, lengths, ect.

9mm or .45?
The great debate. Generally speaking, if you put a standard 9mm FMJ against a .45 FMJ and only getting one shot, the .45 would win. However, once you consider the ballistics of modern hollow point ammunition, they will both get the job done plenty well. Some tests have actually shown that (depending on the brand of hollow points) the expanded diameter of the rounds between 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP are all almost identical, which leaves you looking at the velocity of the rounds and the energy. You also look at a real life situation and understand that in a high stress situation when you may need to use your firearm, your aim may not be as true as it is on the range, so the higher capacity of the 9mm is also an advantage there (average 15-17 rounds vs 7-10 of .45 ACP). Again, there are also personal preferences at play, and neither round will put you at a huge disadvantage.

Why don't you stock Mosins anymore?
Unfortunately prices have gone up since they cannot be imported anymore so their popularity has decreased and they are harder to sell. If you want one come in and talk to us and we can see what we can do about getting you one special ordered.

Why don't you stock Hi-Points, Jimenez, Cobra,
Generally speaking these are low quality guns that we have found often get returned and make customers unhappy (although not always). We much prefer to sell higher quality of firearms, however if you are set on getting one, we will still order them. They also tend to be used as drop guns left behind or tossed in a river after crimes (or apparently now Target). We do currently have a wall of shame in our shop that is starting to grow. If you have one of the aforementioned pistols and you want to get rid of it, we accept donations for the wall of shame.

What do you recommend for home defense?
It depends on the home and what you are comfortable with. Many of us use a 12 gauge pump action with 00 buckshot. However not everyone is as comfortable with the heavier gun and it is not as maneuverable. Pistols and rifles can also be options. We always ask about what neighbors you have since almost any round will over penetrate and you need to be away of what will be beyond your target even in a defensive situation. The three top guns usually are a 12 gauge pump action, a 9mm pistol, or an AR-15 (as the light round tends to tumble and quickly loose energy after hitting its initial target, but will still over penetrate some depending on the round used).

Is there firearm registration in Indiana?
No. No. No. People swear up and down there is, but there isn’t. State Police FAQ section even states that there is not. You do have to complete a background check, but we do not provide the serial number during the check. Only if it is a handgun or long gun, and your identifying information.

What do you think of various gun tv shows? (brace yourself)
To be gentle. We hate them. A lot of it is blowing smoke. Many guns they claim to make they actually didn’t. They also mislead the public as to the legality of new full auto weapons and many times their gun safety demonstration is atrocious.

How far can you shoot a Mosin?
How far can you see?

Why don’t you carry bows?
There is not enough demand to stock bows especially when you consider how many other outdoors shops sell bows. We instead put our focus and money on firearms.

Why don’t you carry black powder guns?
We can special order ones, but they tend to sit around for a long time. We also do not stock them because legally felons can posses black powder guns.

Do you price match?
We do our best to price match. We usually have the lowest prices in town. If you find a firearm you would like at a better price somewhere else come in and talk with us and we will see what we can do on price matching. For online sales remember that unlike other online firearm purchases, we do not charge shipping or transfer fees if you order with us which saves on average around $50 per firearm.

How long does it take for you to get a firearm that is specialty ordered?
Usually less than a week. It depends on what day it is ordered vs what day we place our order (usually twice per week)

Are you a class 3 dealer?
Yes we are! We keep a small stock of the most popular suppressors in the store, along with (currently) one pre-1986 full auto rifle. We also do special orders on suppressors and can help you with the tax stamp paperwork.

Do I need a handgun license to purchase a gun?
No you do not, you just have to pass a federal background check. Having an Indiana License to Carry does not exempt you from the background check.
