History of Concrete Supply Co., LLC

Concrete Supply Co, LLC. (CSC) as we know it today was formed in 1958 through the merger of three ready mix companies with a total of four plants, all located in Charlotte, From that humble beginning, CSC now operates twenty plus plants in the Metrolina region, including facilities in Albemarle, Charlotte, Concord, Croft, Denver, Gastonia, Kannapolis, Lancaster, Lincolnton, Matthews, Mocksville, Monroe, Mooresville, Rock Hill, Salisbury, and Shelby!

In 1999, the management of CSC came to the conclusion that in order to successfully compete in a rapidly changing environment, our Company must expand outside the Metrolina region. As a result of this decision, in 2001 we acquired an ownership interest in Central Carolina Concrete, LLC with three plants in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, in 2002 an interest in Tri-City Concrete, LLC with one plant in Forest City, and in 2004 an interest in Champion Concrete, LLC with three plants in Columbia, Then in 2006 CSC acquired Ocean Drive Ready Mix in Myrtle Beach. In addition, we acquired a 50% interest in Reynolds Trucking Company, LLC in 2004 and in Concrete and Materials Placement, LLC in 2006. In 2008, CSC acquired Prestress Concrete of Florence, SC, Camden Concrete of Camden, SC, and an ownership interest in Burgess Brogdon Concrete, LLC in Sumter, SC.

In 2013, CSC acquired the Columbia, SC assets of Hardaway Concrete and merged operations with Cemex of the Carolinas to officially form Concrete Supply Co., LLC. Today CSC and it subsidiaries operate 70 + concrete plants and 500 + mixer trucks, employ more than 600 people, and produce nearly two million cubic yards of concrete annually. Notable projects for which we have supplied the ready mix concrete include the McGuire Nuclear Station, the Carolina Panthers football stadium, the 60 story Bank of America Corporate Center, the 42 story One Wachovia Center, the Duke Energy building, and the Continental Tire manufacturing site in Sumter, SC.

Yet size and high profile projects have never been the true measures of the greatness of our Company. Instead, we place much more importance on the fact that on three occasions the Associated General Contractors organization has named CSC the “Best Supplier/Service Company” in the two Carolinas, that the United Way has selected us to serve as a Pacesetter Company for the annual United Way Campaign year after year, that two president’s of our Company have been elected to serve as Chairperson of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association while another served as President of the Carolina’s Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and that CSC has been nominated twice in recent years for the Ethics in Business Award.
