Hope Lutheran Church

Hope started as a sponsored mission of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Waterville, ME with Pastor Paul Nielsen presiding. The first official church service was held in Bangor’s Ramada Inn on February 22, 1998 and was led by Pastor Nielsen. The Ramada Inn was our church’s weekly meeting place until our new (and current) church home on Union Street was ready later that November.

“Under the cross, by the cross and through the cross, we seek to remain people sensitive and Christ-centered, so that we can reflect the love of Christ in our lives as we care and show concern for those around us. We cling strongly to the Word, so that we build and strengthen the bond of peace and unity among us, and by the grace of God overcome divisions, acknowledge legitimate differences, and eliminate roadblocks to the work of the work (sic.) of the Holy Spirit. We are your neighbors, the people of Hope Lutheran Church, and we want you to know that in Christ, there’s plenty of hope to go around!” (Hope Lutheran Church brochure, updated May 1999)
