Based in Smithville, Tennessee, Impact Dispersal Systems, LLC offers the IDS Safety Pivot System, a unique device for Child Safety Seats. It includes the patented Impact Dispersal System that reduces force from impacts, without any forward movement of the seat base. The System also includes a tether tightening system, which provides a mechanical advantage for tightening the top and bottom tethers. The tethers are tightened from the front of the seat for ease of access. This allows you to tighten the system extremely tight with minimal effort.

Regardless of your size or strength almost anyone would be able to install the Child Safety Seat properly. The system can even be adjustable for different weights.

According to the Children's hospital of Philadelphia center for injury, research, and prevention motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death and acquired disability for children after age 1 (CHOP). You can see the video of the crash test with or without our system on the website.

Why does this only happen after age 1? When a child is in a rear-facing safety seat, their head and spine are not as vulnerable. When the child is facing forward, even in a child safety seat, their head and spine are much more vulnerable. This change most often occurs after the child's first birthday. The head and neck of a child weighs much more proportionally than adults. If a 170 pound adult male's head and neck were proportional to an 18 month old child, it would weigh approximately 46 pounds. The child safety seat will restrain a child, but does very little to reduce the crash energy.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - Traffic Safety Facts:
* A properly installed child safety seat reduces the risk of fatal injury by 54% for toddlers 1 to 4 years old in passenger cars.

Most parents think if they do everything right that their child is perfectly safe. Not true based on the facts: 54% reduced risk of fatal injury is a good improvement but is a long way from 100%. Any known child safety seat of today doesn't reduce the crash energy in a forward vehicle crash. The child is NOT perfectly safe.

According to NHTSA, in comparison tests, there was little difference between the expensive and the economical child safety seats in the level of safety offered.

According to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA)
* Nearly 250,000 children are injured every year in a vehicle accidents in the US
* Leading cause of death
* Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of acquired disability ( brain injury, paralysis, etc.) for children nationwide.
* On any given day nearly 700 children are harmed due to accidents on our roadways
