Becker Funeral Home shared Confessions of a Funeral Director's post.
After you lose a loved one, there's no rules and timetables to your grief. Neither are there rules and timetables to when you can start smiling and enjoying life again. It's okay if you're still crying years after someone's death, and it's okay if you smile at someone's funeral. It's okay to give yourself permission to grieve for as long as you need and it's okay to give yourself permission to find joy. And sometimes these two things work together: We can find healthy grief when we give ourselves permission to find a healthy joy.
