In June of 1986 Dick Gruber had accumulated some wealth over 35 years of hard work and after a bout with cancer decided to retire and take it easy. Two weeks later his lovely wife Karen said "Dick you are driving me crazy." Dick then decided to pursue his love for old cars and KC Classic Auto Display was founded.
Why did he name it KC Classic Auto Display? Well those who new Dick also know he could stretch a dollar into thread and guess what he found at the sign store but a pre-formed used sign from a defunct business for $20 and a can of krylon later the word display was added. And there you are. It began with mostly consignments.
In 1992 Kim Eldred came in and took nearly half the space with his own cars and he and Dick became great friends and worked together until 1996 when Dick’s cancer won out. The business continued with new owners Kim Eldred, President, and Tom Minnick Of Scottsdale Arizona, Vice President.
As co-owners we have moved from cars of the 40s and 50s to mostly muscle cars. We pride ourselves and our excellent staff on honesty and reliability (you just can’t teach that)! Over 50% of our sales year after year are repeat customers. When we describe a car we tell you about the one we have, not the one we wish we had! Thanks for looking!
