Montessori Children’s House was founded in 1979 by Rod and Jane Connell, at Elm Street Presbyterian Church Annex Building, in Alton IL. By 1988, rapid growth meant finding a new location. The school was moved to the campus of Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, IL. and also began providing daycare for the students, faculty, and general public.
Since 1988 the school has continued to grow and offers two primary classes, a lower and upper elementary class, daycare for children 2 through 5 years of age, and after school care for school age children.
Montessori Children’s House is a member of the American Montessori Society, registered with the Illinois State Board of Education, and is a private, co-educational school for children ages 3 through eighth grade.
Montessori Children’s House Daycare is a fully licensed daycare through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for children 2 through 5 years of age.
