Dostal & Kirk, Inc. was formed in 2009 following the merger of two long-established independent insurance agencies in the Bucyrus and Galion area – The Auck Dostal Agency and Kirk Insurance and Financial Services.
The Auck Dostal Agency traces its origin back to 1875 when it was established by John Schaber. In 1921, following a merger, the agency was operated by Mr. Joseph R. Neff and Mr. Milton Lewis at 212 E. Mansfield St. After working for Aetna Life and Casualty, John M. Dostal formed a partnership with Mr. Neff and in 1956, the agency became The Neff-Dostal Agency. The agency was incorporated in 1965. Over the years, Mr. Dostal purchased Mr. Neff’s interest and Mr. Neff retired from the agency in December, 1969.
David G. Dostal joined the agency in 1969 following graduation from St. Joseph’s College. In 1980, the agency purchased and remodeled a building located at 321 S. Sandusky Ave. that became the new agency location. John M. Dostal then retired, leaving his interest in the agency to David G. Dostal.
In 1995, The Neff-Dostal Agency merged with The Auck Agency, which was owned by David M. Auck, to become The Auck Dostal Agency. David’s son, Michael D. Dostal, joined the agency in 2005 after graduating from the University of Colorado in 2000 and working for Pacific Shellfish, Inc. in San Diego, CA for almost 5 years.
In March of 2009, The Auck Dostal Agency merged with Kirk Insurance & Financial Services, LLC. Kirk Insurance & Financial Services was formed by Jeffrey A. Kirk in 2001. Mr. Kirk, a Crawford County native, returned to his hometown of Galion to open the agency after a successful career as an Insurance Company Executive over a 20 year span.
Kirk Insurance & Financial Services provided corporate clients with property and casualty solutions as well as benefits and qualified retirement plans. Kirk Insurance & Financial Services was a leading provider of 401(K) Plans in North Central Ohio. The new combined entity is the largest agency in Crawford County, and offers a complete line of insurance and financial services.
