CCCIL is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization. We receive major funding from the Calif. Dept. of Rehabilitation, Dept. of Mental Health, and other State, Federal and Local agencies. We also receive grants from foundations and corporations, and generous gifts from individuals.

CCCIL was founded in Santa Cruz County in 1984 as a grassroots organization dedicated to serving the unmet needs of people with disabilities. It was originally known as Community Resources for the Disabled, Inc. (CRD).

In its initial stages, CCCIL's services were provided from its Santa Cruz office and focused on in formation and referral and community advocacy. In 1986, it began offering the full range of independent living services. In 1989, a branch office opened in Salinas.

CCCIL moved its main office to Salinas in 1994. Today, in addition to the Capitola office, CCCIL has staff in Hollister, Monterey and Soledad.
