Foundation for Dreams

The Foundation for Dreams is unique in that we are the only camp in the Southwest Region of Florida that provides year round residential and day sessions for children with varying ability levels (both physical and developmental) and chronic/terminal medical conditions) including: (but not limited to) autism, spinal bifida, cerebral palsy, developmental delays and cancer patients.

This year, the Florida Department of Education has identified that there are close to 350,000 children in the state of Florida that have been identified as having a diagnosed special need and qualify for our program.

Dream Oaks Camp fills the need of non-school related recreational activities for children with special needs and provides the respite care for parents and/or caregivers. ARCH Respite Network reports that respite has been shown to help sustain overall family caregiver health and well-being, as well as avoid or delay out-of-home placements.

Our program offers specialized activities for children with varying ability levels (both physical and developmental), special needs and chronic/terminal medical conditions, as they are adapted to include 100% participation of all campers. Our unique programs focus on each child’s abilities, and are specifically designed to strengthen their social skills, self-esteem and independence in a safe, barrier-free environment.

Program activities include, but are not limited to: arts and crafts, music and drama, yoga, aquatic programs (swimming and canoeing), boat rides, sports and games, nature studies, therapeutic horseback riding and many other fun camping activities and experiences.
