American Chemet is a privately owned manufacturer and marketer of cuprous oxide, cupric oxide, zinc oxide, copper powder, dispersion strengthened copper, copper oxide agricultural fungicides, and related products. Chemet is best known for its variety of copper oxides. American Chemet manufactures a variety of copper powders for applications including: friction, brazing, tamping, lubrication, and PM parts. Chemet also produces dispersion strengthened copper (DSC) for applications that need electrical and thermal conductivity near that of copper, but require improved strength and resistance to softening at elevated temperatures. Zinc oxide, Chemet’s original product, is still an important part of its business. Marketed primarily to the rubber and agricultural industries, Zinox 430 also has applications in chemicals, brick, ceramics, and specialty coatings.
