Dear ASD Community, Open communication is an important part of building a strong partnership with families and the community. For this reason, I would like to personally address the William Allen Marching Band issue. My office has become aware of the decision made, as well as the concern of our ASD band community because of the decision. Please know it is imperative we take every opportunity to support our children. I want to ensure all of our parents and students that our first priority is always student safety and I support the high school in its desire to ensure students are not at risk. However, ASD adults have a responsibility to remove roadblocks that have the potential to negatively impact the student experience in our district. Our band students have worked diligently the entire summer, and deserve to enjoy all the rituals and traditions related to that effort. Therefore, my office will ensure our students are provided all the safety mechanisms required to march to the stadium as a demonstration of their deep-rooted school pride, and moreover, the pride of the city of Allentown. Thank you to the passionate ASD families and community members who continue to advocate on behalf of our children’s success.
