Care Corps

Care Corps Family Services and Low Income Ministry entered into a strategic partnership to legally become Care Corps, Inc., effective August 1, 2018. The partnership offers services under the name LifeHouse.

For forty-five years, Low Income Ministry has been helping families in the Fremont and Dodge County area through the pantry, thrift store, and rent/utilities assistance programs. Low Income Ministry works closely with area churches, organizations, and agencies; this collaboration helps over 500 households, annually, meet the basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter.

Care Corps began as a homeless shelter in 1996. While they continue to run an emergency shelter, the services offered includes transitional housing, permanent housing, case management and prevention from homelessness. These services touch over 1000 individuals each year.

This union will allow our programs to grow to a higher level by providing efficient and effective services. By joining missions, Care Corps and Low Income Ministry will be able to provide services along the whole continuum of an individual’s or family’s needs and journey out of poverty. Practically, for a client, this will look like streamlined case management and services to prevent people from becoming homeless, shelter and housing if they do become homeless, and case management to sustain housing. Clients oftentimes build a trusting relationship with their case manager and this will eliminate the need for a warm hand off between agencies but a consistent, streamlined service of case management and services.

Along with many other local organizations, Low Income Ministry and Care Corps have served many of the same clients. A union ensures accountability and further opportunities for clients to gain the essential life skills necessary to thrive on their own. Together as one organization, the strengths combined will promote the ability to provide more efficient services to program participants, so they are empowered to be self-sufficient and independent.
