The Central Missouri Humane Society primarily serves Boone County. As a limited intake shelter, we never turn an animal away and are often the only place an unwanted or stray animal can call home. We welcome almost any animal, including dogs, cats, rats, rabbits, ferrets, reptiles and birds! CMHS regularly cares for over 200 animals at one time! We receive no national funding, but rely on fundraising and the generous support of our sponsors to raise nearly $900,000 each year to care for our animals.
