St. Rose Grammar School was established in 1921 and is a church related school for the education of the individual student. Originally staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph, a dedicated lay faculty now continues their strong tradition.
We average 350 girls and boys enrolled in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The student population reflects all ability levels and ethnic diversity. This diverse population includes students from Belmar and twenty-five sending school districts.
We offer various sports programs, including Cross Country (begins in grade 2), boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, baseball and softball. We also have several clubs, including band, tech team, chorus, yearbook, newspaper, altar servers (for St. Rose Church).
Students have five special subjects each week: Spanish, Music, Art, Gym and Technology.
We offer advanced placement math for 8th grade students who qualify. Through this program, 8th graders attend high school level Algebra 1 in St. Rose High School.
Our school community enjoys many annual traditions including, the annual school carnival in May, Beach Day in June, PTA-funded assemblies and field trips, the 6th grade Egyptian Museum, the 4th grade Rainforest Cafe, the 7th Grade Scrooge Play, the 3rd grade's play and Flat Stanley project, the 2nd grade's Invention Convention, the kindergarten's 100 day celebration, the pre-k Snowflake Ball, First Friday masses and many other community-building traditions.
