Force Electronics

Heilind Electronics is a privately held business-to-business distributor of electronic components headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Heilind specializes in interconnect and electromechanical products and electronic hardware, distributing products from over 100 manufacturers. The company has 27 locations in the United States, Canada and Mexico and is the largest interconnect distributor (1) and eighth largest electronics distributor (2) in North America, generating annual revenue in excess of $400 million. Its customers are original equipment manufacturers and contract manufacturers in the medical, industrial control, transportation, telecom, datacom, test & measurement, energy and lighting industries.

Heilind, together with sister company, The Roberts Company, makes up the DAC Group (DAC), an organization with over $500 million in annual revenue.



History

Heilind Electronics was founded in 1974 by Robert W. Clapp, who continues today as president and sole owner. Since its founding, the company has grown through both internal expansion and acquisition. Significant acquisitions include: Force Electronics of California (1986), Help Electronics of New York (1991), Sage Electronics of California (1991), and Gateway Megatech of Ohio (1998). In 1982, Heilind spun-off its hardware distribution business, creating The Roberts Company which operates today as a separate corporation within the DAC Group organization.
