EWALU (Eastern ioWA LUtheran) Bible Camp and Retreat Center is located in scenic northeast Iowa, just west of Strawberry Point. Founded in 1961, EWALU now serves over 8000 children, youth and adults annually through its summer camp program, retreats, ropes course, special events and other programs.
EWALU is owned by the congregations of the Northeast and Southeast Iowa Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Americal ( ), but EWALU has served as a "place apart" for people of many faiths. EWALU also regularly hosts school groups, business retreats and other secular organizations and events.
In addition to the over 500-acre main site, EWALU operates the Stone Center, an adult-friendly retreat center featuring hotel style rooms and semi-private bathrooms. The Stone Center is located on Highway 13 just north of Strawberry Point, and is an ideal facility for business retreats, school/college events, trainings, family reunions and church retreats. EWALU accommodates large and small gatherings in this special "place apart."
