City of West Bend Facebook Policy:

Welcome and thank you for being a fan of the City of West Bend! This site is open to residents and friends of West Bend, and we welcome your feedback and comments on items of interest and encourage dialogue among friends and fans. However, as a government entity, we do have rules regarding postings on our page. We want everyone to feel comfortable participating on our site, and we reserve the right to remove any comments deemed inappropriate for this public forum. If you have questions, comments, or wish to discuss an issue further, please contact us at (262) 335-5122.

Rule No. 1: We’re all “friends” here – so please be polite! No inappropriate comments, name calling, or comparisons to notorious dictators. This applies to comments made about individuals or entities. And please, do not post anything that may be viewed as threatening, libelous, derogatory, harassing, hurtful, sexist or racist.

Rule No. 2: Keep it clean -- no obscenities (or any words that you would not feel comfortable using in front of your grandmother.)

Rule No. 3: Please respect the privacy of others. Leave out references to phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, or any other personal information.

Rule No. 4: This site is intended to promote news, events and good things happening around West Bend. Please refrain from recruiting, campaigning, soliciting and proselytizing. This page is NOT intended to address questions or concerns, as they are best brought directly to the attention of City Hall by stopping in, calling, postal service correspondence, or e-mailing. Concerns or questions raised on this page could be missed by City of West Bend staff. We have removed the ability to post directly to the wall; however, comments are still allowed but may be removed if they are off topic or deemed inappropriate for this venue. Complaint forms are available at City Hall. Additionally, if you would like to promote a community event, please e-mail it to facebook@ and we would be happy to put it up for you!

Rule No. 5: Your comments should be yours and not infringe on copyrights and trademarks. Of course, you're welcome to link to relevant content and to quote from the works of others with attribution. This does not, however, include quoting the words of others in the form of "hearsay".

Once posted, the city reserves the right to delete submissions that contain vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, or religious group. Further, the city also reserves the right to delete comments that are: (i) spam or include links to other sites; (ii) clearly off topic; (iii) advocate illegal activity; (iv) promote particular services, products, or political organizations; (v) infringe on copyrights or trademarks or (vi) violate of any local, state, or federal laws and/or is otherwise unlawful.
