Twin Acres Ice Cream Shoppe, which sits on two acres of beautifully manicured land, got its start in the mid-1970s in a one-car garage located next to a cottage colony that was built in the 1940s. Rundown and up for sale in 1990, Phil Barrett and his wife Emily saw it as a great opportunity to employ local high school and college kids while also putting smiles on those same faces by serving some of the best-tasting ice cream on Cape Cod. The Barretts purchased Twin Acres that year and began the process of redesigning and developing it into the Twin Acres that we know today!
The grounds, which are located on historic Route 6A in Sandwich, MA, offer patrons a park-like setting with nurtured,lush gardens of dogwoods, hydrangeas, daisies, climbing roses, lilys and more all beneath old-growth shade trees. Patrons can choose from a wide variety of hard serve and soft serve ice cream flavors that will undoubtedly satisfy any pallet. Over the years Twin Acres has become a summer mainstay for Cape residents and visitors alike.
