Education services designed to meet each child’s individual needs for school readiness. Children receive an early screening followed by ongoing assessment in the areas of cognitive development, language, motor skills, and self-help. Speech referrals are made when needed. We focus on what the child “can do,” not what they cannot do. Existing skills are a building block to new skills. Health services are designed around the early identification of health problems. Screenings are provided for dental, vision, hearing, height, weight, and nutrition. Current immunization records, TB tests, lead tests, hemoglobin and up-to-date medical exams are required for children to be enrolled in the program. Nutrition services provide a breakfast, hot lunch and/or a nutritious snack meeting the USDA requirements. We follow a nutrition program in the classroom. We provide families with information on healthy food choices, proper methods of preparing food and serving food. Parent engagement services are provided as research shows that parents have the most impact on their child’s development. HHS focuses on involving parents in parent education, program planning, governance and operation activities. HHS offers a variety of programs to encourage parent involvement in their child’s development. Social services are provided to parents in an effort to assist them with needs. Services provided build on the strengths of families to meet their needs. Family Resource Advisors (FRAs) provide families with assistance on health and dental needs, transportation, community resources and crisis intervention services. Mental health services include providing mental health and psychological service to children to encourage their emotional and social development. Mental health professionals are available to provide training to staff and parents. This allows them to be aware of the need for early attention to the special problems of children. Transition services provide assistance between the pre-kindergarten and elementary settings to maintain and maximize gains that children and families achieve during their time with our program. Transportation is provided to all children in part-day programs residing within program boundaries.
