Berkeley Symphony is internationally-recognized for our dedication to world premieres, artists from around the globe and around San Francisco Bay Area, commissioning new works, and our extensive Music in the Schools education programs. Adventure and amazement abound at of our symphonic, chamber, and family concerts.
Under the baton of Music Director Joana Carneiro, we perform in Berkeley and San Francisco, California, and have been honored with an Adventurous Programming Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and PublishÂers (ASCAP) in ten of the past thirteen seasons. Anna Clyne is our Music Alive composer-in-residence, a program of the League of American Orchestras and New Music USA. Clyne is the mentor to our Berkeley Sound Composer Fellows.
Each year, Berkeley Symphony, in partnership with Berkeley Unified School District, engages over 4,600 elementary and middle school students and their families, 100% free of charge.
