Founded in 1969, Manomet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit grounded in science with experts that champion better practices in sustainability, conservation, and science education. At Manomet, we believe people can live and work today in ways that will enable our world to thrive and prosper tomorrow. Our mission is: Applying science and engaging people to sustain our world.
Manomet moves people to action on climate change and living more sustainably through four programs: 1) Sustainable Economies: creating an economy based on sustainability; 2) Science Education: providing educational and hands-on research opportunities to connect people to nature; 3) Climate Services: providing guidance to land managers to increase resiliency of landscapes and communities to a changing climate; and, 4) Shorebird Recovery: conducting research and building networks to recover threatened shorebird populations in the Western Hemisphere.
Manomet staff works from our headquarters in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and offices located in Maine, Vermont, Washington, Delaware, Chile, and Paraguay. As scientists, we know we must take action to sustain our world. Manomet is a leader in the path to sustainability, and we’re working with people in four critical systems –natural, forest, food, and economic—to affect real change. Our goal is to make it possible for the people who run these systems to change them. By applying science and engaging people, Manomet provides practical ways to act—where people live and work.
