Miles City Federal Credit Union

Miles City Federal Credit Union is Miles City’s oldest standing credit union! Miles City Federal Credit Union (MCFCU) is a non-profit cooperative financial institution owned by the membership to benefit and serve the members. MCFCU was chartered in 1952. The original field of membership provided financial services to State, County and City employees living in Custer County. By 1967 membership had grown to 290 members with $152,000 in assets. In the following 30 years, the institution grew to a membership of 1,001 members (reaching peak members!) and $1,811,173 in assets. By June 2011 the membership was around 649 with total assets of $2,771,201.

The credit union continues to grow and add new services. Membership in the credit union is obtained with a minimum $35 share held in a share (savings) account. Once a member opens a shares account with the credit union, they are then eligible for all services offered by the credit union.

The field of membership has expanded over the years and now includes:

*Employees of the City of Miles City, Custer County, and State of Montana workers that work in Custer County
* Employees of all schools in Miles City, including Miles Community College
* Persons who were members of the Custer County Community FCU (merged in 1989)
* Persons who were members of the Local 653 (merged in 1991)
* Employees of MDU who work in Miles City or Forsyth
* Employees of the following Miles City businesses:
Holy Rosary Health care
Montana Mental Health Center
Friendship Villa Care Center
Pine Hills Correctional Facility
*Employees of the Bureau of Land Management – Miles City Field Office
* Employees of the Department of Transportation in Miles City and Jordan
* Employees of the Department MT Maintenance Office Western Area Power Administration-Miles City
