Energex Pellet Fuel, Inc. began operations in 1993 after acquiring the Lac-Megantic plant that had started in 1982 as a producer of industrial wood pellets. After purchasing of the plant, Energex added a packaging facility to bag premium grade wood pellet fuel and completed a total renovation, rehabilitation, and modernization of the plant facility turning it into one of the premier plants in North America.
In 2000, Energex merged a West Virginia pellet plant with another in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, and created Energex American, Inc., now the premier supplier of pellets in the mid-Atlantic region.
