From the time of its inception, Med-Van Transport has strived to provide quality, professional, customer-friendly service to the residents of west central Pennsylvania. Based in Northern Cambria, Pennsylvania,

Commencing operations in 1995 with a staff of six people and 3 vehicles, Med-Van Transport has grown into the area’s second largest employer. With a staff of over 100 employees, and more than 90 vehicles in our professionally maintained fleet, we stand ready to serve the needs of our customers. We now have bases of operation in Altoona, Johnstown and Indiana, Pa.

While the size of our company has changed greatly over the years, our commitment to our mission statement remains the same.

Every successful company begins with a well trained, professional work force. Our employees undergo rigorous pre-employment screening. All employees are required to have physical examinations, criminal history checks, department of motor vehicle checks, and are subject to our drug testing policy. Each employee must successfully complete a minimum of two weeks of training conducted in compliance with our Pennsylvania state certified Safety Committee. In addition, all new employees are schooled in the area of customer service and certified in CPR.

Our fleet of 10 ambulances, which are licensed by the Pennsylvania State Department of Health as Basic life support (BLS) and Advanced life support (ALS), as well as our more than 80 para-transit vehicles (Licensed by the PUC) meet and/or exceed all local, state and federal requirements. All vehicles are maintained by professional, certified mechanics and are replaced, on average, every four years.

From the moment you call or enter our state-of-the-art office building, you can rest assured that you will be treated with respect. The courteous demeanor of our dispatch and billing departments is something that sets us apart from other businesses. Each staff member is specially trained in the duties and responsibilities of his or her unique job requirements.

With nearly a century of combined experience in the ambulance/transportation industry, our team of department managers and executive level leaders bring a diverse pool of knowledge to the table. They are well versed in local, state and federal laws governing this industry. Once again, through continuing education, our management staff stays abreast of all the latest changes and brings that knowledge to the staff through constant training and in-service activities.

As the world changes rapidly, every business knows the importance of having the latest tools of the trade. Here is yet another area where Med-Van Transport continues to take steps to maintain its reputation as an industry leader. Our office software is connected to two of the latest computer servers and networks all work stations both on and off site. Specialty programs are utilized for dispatch, routing, billing, vehicle maintenance, and human resource purposes. Our custom designed software is internet based and allows our area supervisors to track upcoming appointments and the availability of their staff. In addition to our in-house advances, our fleet of vehicles also uses the latest technology. Currently, we are outfitting our vehicles with the latest in group Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) tracking. With the use of transponders installed on the vehicles, we are able to track each movement of vehicles 24 hours a day. These devices collect an amazing amount of data and can be programmed to do specific tasks from a web-based control point. This assures our dispatchers know the exact location of vehicles at all times. They are viewable on a centralized screen in the dispatch area.

Our success has come as a direct result of our interactions with our customers. We have no advertising budget, and have not needed one for some years now. Our company has continued to thrive, based solely on word of mouth advertising we receive from satisfied customers. We work hard to maintain both our professional integrity, and our attention to the individual. Each person has unique, individual needs and we make it our business to pay attention to those needs and do all we can to satisfy them.
