“Through all the stuff I put them through, they never gave up on me," Carson said. "They always wanted me to be a part of them and they always called me their son. I let them in my heart because I know they’re not going to hurt me like other families would." - Carson Petersen, adoptee #adoptees #adoptiveparents #fostercareadoption #domesticadoption www.adoptiveparents.org
It took more than a decade for this California teen to find a permanent family, but 18-year-old Carson Petersen couldn't stop smiling when his adoption was finalized last month.

As has become annual tradition, U.S. Congressmember Karen Bass (D-CA) hosted the CCAI Foster Youth Interns (FYIs) this morning for breakfast and a Q&A session. The Congressmember shared invaluable wisdom with our FYIs on a range of topics including leadership, mentorship and child welfare. Our interns are so grateful for the Congresswomen’s time and expertise. She is a true champion for foster youth! #FYI2017 #EmpowerFosterYouth
