Camp Krem: Residential Summer Camp for Children and Adults with Disabilities. Located in Boulder Creek, CA, Santa Cruz Mountains, minutes from Santa Cruz and 60 miles South of San Francisco, 1 hour from San Jose, CA.
Offers traditional camping sessions, outdoor adventure programs and travel camp journies.

Since 1957, Camping Unlimited has provided year- around recreational activities and summer camping for children and adults with developmental disabilities. The non-profit organization was founded by Alex Krem, (1957), with the help of parents, teachers and friends of the developmentally disabled . Alex Krem was a special education teacher who did ground breaking work in successfully main-streaming exceptional children into a regular public school environment.
He was an extraordinary man who entered the field of special education later in life, after doing pioneering work in group dynamics and also serving as a chemist testing the first polio vaccine.
After he developed an interest in the disabled and entered the teaching profession, he became aware of the need for recreational pursuits for the specially challenged that could lead to personal growth.

In 1961 the organization known as Camping Unlimited became a tax-exempt corporation and in 1965, forty-five acres were purchased in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Boulder Creek as a camp site. Over the years with the help of volunteers and donations "Camp Krem" has been greatly improved with new buildings, a paved road, many nature trails, and a beautiful extra large swimming pool specially adapted for use by the disabled. There is also a large playground, Arts & Crafts building, commercial kitchen and dining hall / activity center and infirmary. At certain weeks/times of the year, Camp Krem is available for rental purposes, weddings, conferences, home schools etc.
