Evergreen Burial Park began in 1916 in what was then Roanoke County, VA. The cemetery was designed by the Hare and Hare design firm of Kansas City, Missouri, a renowned cemetery design firm of its day. A number of notable individuals and their families are buried at Evergreen Burial Park including Governor J. Lindsey Almond, 15 Roanoke mayors, several Norfolk and Western presidents including “Racehorse” Smith, and veterans of all wars dating back to the Civil War.
Over the years, we have made improvements and added new programs mindful of changing needs and traditions but always with the care and comfort of the families we serve as our guiding principal. We are pleased so many residents of the adjoining Raleigh Court and Wasena neighborhoods walk, jog, and stroll our wide paved roads much like they would any park, but always with respect to those who rest here.
