Founded in 1990 by Houston's civic leaders, the Council is a 501(c) 3, non-partisan forum. It hosts a variety of lectures on global issues encouraging thoughtful discussion of the international issues and the events that shape our world today. Programs are made possible by in-kind support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. We impact over 30,000 Houstonians each year and touch countless generations through the students and teachers we serve.
Our vision is a strong and prosperous society, whose citizens participate cooperatively, confidently, and effectively in the global community.
We do this by:
* Building a network of globally-minded citizens and business, civic, and government leaders
* Hosting lectures on global issues and bringing policy makers and opinion leaders to Houston
* Encouraging thoughtful discussion of the international issues and the events that shape our times
* Supporting the work of international organizations and academic institutions in the Houston area
* Bringing Houston’s voice into international policy discussion
