FIRE ISLAND INLET SHOALING ALERT (UPDATED 5/24/17)- There is a large area of shoaling in the current channel marking the inlet. If you are entering the inlet do not go directly from red #6 to red #8, and when exiting the inlet do not go directly from red #8 to red #6. THE SAFEST WAY TO TRANSIT THE INLET IS TO FAVOR THE GREEN SIDE OF THE CHANNEL. As usual, proceed at your own risk and make sure you are an active Sea Tow Member! Have the piece of mind knowing that the largest fleet of tow boats (twice as many as the other company) covering Long Island is standing by 24/7 for you. www.seatow.com

It's finally starting to feel like summer is actually going to come back and a lot of you are working like crazy to get your boats ready for the water. I know that I am constantly asking you all how the boat is rigged (height-wise) for travel and this is what we're trying to avoid. Please be sure that the boats' overall height (from the bottom of the keel to the highest non removable point) does NOT exceed 12'. If it does, you need to remove the items causing that situation so that we can avoid this one:

Hi Boaters! Could it be that Spring is finally here? Hasn't felt like it with the rain and cold but the calendar says it's May which means Memorial Day is around the corner. While I know so many of you work hard to be in by the holiday, keep in mind that for those of you whose boats are wider than 8' 6" you only have until noon on Friday the 26th (since there is a wide load travel curfew in place from noon Friday until sunrise on the Tuesday after). Plan accordingly and call early for appointments because the schedule will fill quickly. Happy prepping!!
