The seminal event in American history blazes to vivid life in this most unconventional of Broadway hits. 1776 puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty and ultimately noble figures, determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation. It's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence... if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! 1776 follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the Second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence. Directed by Daren A.C. Carollo Musical Direction by Sierra Dee Choreography by Morgan Stinson Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theater song, but not a song from 1776 ---- An accompanist will be provided, but please bring sheet music in the correct key. No transpositions and no acapella. Please bring a current headshot and current resume. 1776 will be presented at the Bankhead Theatre, 2400 First Street in Livermore, CA January 13th through January 29th, 2018

Proud to be able to support this show!
Written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" was the first totally American fantasy for children and one of the most-read children's books (according to the Library of Congress). The 1939 film starring Judy Garland was nominated for six Academy Awards but lost Best Picture to Gone with the Wind. It did win Best Original Song for "Over the Rainbow" which nearly didn't make it into the final cut. The film was reintroduced to the public with annual broadcasts that began in 1956 earning it the title "most-watched motion picture in history!"

Nessarose (Toto) is wagging her tail because she's so excited for her first production with TVRT. She thanks Stonecliffe Animal Rescue for saving her life and for her Daddies, Brian and Jess, who offer encouragement and support. She also wants to thank her trainer, Paige for being patient and helping her master her role as Toto. The cast and crew and Kathy have been so generous with their belly rubs! Her sister, Sophie, is purring at home, relieved to have a quiet home while Nessa is at the theatre. We open the Wizard of Oz at the Bankhead Theater July 15th at 8:00 get your tickets at http://bit.ly/tvrtwoztck
