Written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" was the first totally American fantasy for children and one of the most-read children's books (according to the Library of Congress). The 1939 film starring Judy Garland was nominated for six Academy Awards but lost Best Picture to Gone with the Wind. It did win Best Original Song for "Over the Rainbow" which nearly didn't make it into the final cut. The film was reintroduced to the public with annual broadcasts that began in 1956 earning it the title "most-watched motion picture in history!" We've been quiet on social media thus far in 2017, but that will be changing soon. Big things are coming. In the interim, we wanted to wish everyone a happy rare disease day today. 30 million Americans and 350 million people worldwide suffer from a rare disease with little to no hope of a treatment. It's a good reminder what's at stake. We are so grateful for every second with Grace and her fellow NGLY1 "cousins". Today I had the pleasure of connecting with another NGLY1 family in France. Incredibly special. Please hug your children a little tighter tonight. Reach out to a friend or family member fighting a rare disease. Donate to a rare disease organization. The world will be a better place. - Matt
