When Elsie Wilcox founded the YWCA of Kauai in June 1921, its early mission was to help young women who had very few or no contacts outside the home. As the years passed, ideas and needs for islanders changed. The YWCA responded to the challenge by designing programs which fulfill these current needs.
Today the YWCA of Kaua`i leads the island in providing services for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, as well as education and prevention programs in the community.
