Anchorage Home Builders Association

What We Do: The AHBA sponsors and supports both educational and political community-service programs of many kinds. We have monthly general membership meetings with informative industry related speakers, an annual Home Show, Spring Preview of Homes tour and a Parade of Homes. Our members serve on Municipality of Anchorage's committee(s) to review municipal codes, our Governmental Affairs Committee meets with assembly members and the Mayor on a regular basis. Our Board of Directors' works closely with other groups related to housing issues. The association sponsors a few special community programs, for example; a scholarship fund for high school seniors and our annual Shoebox Program where Christmas is given to over 600 students in the Anchorage School District. Also, our members have also donated a lot of their time and materials into building a home for a low-income family in the Mountain View area, "The Association House".

AHBA membership includes membership with ASHBA and NAHB. Through these associations, a member has access to a state lobbyist and educational programs approved by the ASHBA. At the national level, there is access to legal information, a library on housing topics, data on economic and financial issues and a list of discounted services to members. There is also a chance to network with over 500,000 professionals dedicated to providing safe, affordable housing for all Americans -- and have a good time doing it!
