Proplanner's main offering is Assembly Planner. The Assembly Planner system introduces the capability to plan and engineer more efficient single and mixed-model assembly line operations with greater speed and quality, using the techniques of industrial engineering, lean manufacturing, and quality management (in advance of production, or on an on-going basis).
Assembly Planner is a database system with integrated factory engineering tools for Bill of Material (BOM) change analysis, assembly process definition & management, time & motion study, mixed-model assembly line balancing, and automated work instructions.
Additional Assembly Planner modules include automatically configured & order specific electronic shop floor work instructions, assembly product sequence planning, electronic kanban and kitting systems, material flow & facility layout planning, assembly station ergonomic analysis, engineering change management,
Assembly Planner is a comprehensive Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) system for assembly manufacturers (though specific stand-alone tools like facility layout planning, time & motion study, and automated work instructions are applicable in any operations environment). Proplanner offers the most complete and affordable solutions on the market.
MPM systems electronically bridge the gap between the two well known and established database systems for manufacturing companies [Product Data Management (PDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)]. This integration is a strategic goal of many IT executives.
The engineering Bill of Materials is imported from the PDM system into the MPM system to begin creating the manufacturing process. The manufacturing process is defined and engineered in the MPM system in fine detail. Further steps in the process are eliminated and automated by the use of a central database as the home of all assembly process data.
For example, a product engineering change may generate a change in a time required to perform a work procedure. That time data is automatically updated in the line balancing and work instructions modules. Assembly Planner re-uses assembly process data ( - work descriptions, times, parts, tools, etc.) for a variety of related engineering and planning functions. Production data can then be electronically exported to MRP II and ERP systems (likely a manual process today).
Stand-alone and loosely integrated software lack the high speed and quality resulting from having all assembly process information in one central location. Furthermore, Proplanner's professional grade engineering tools produce significant productivity and cost improvements on the assembly line and related material delivery systems.
