As Farm Bill conversations heat up, discussing crop insurance – a critical safety net for farmers – is more important than ever. As Northwest Farm Credit Services's Dean Benson said at U.S. Department of Agriculture's #AgOutlook Forum, crop insurance minimizes the risks posed by agriculture’s inherent uncertainty. Furthermore, like Farm Credit Services of America's Mark Jensen said today, crop insurance helps young, beginning and small farmers better access the reliable, consistent credit their local Farm Credit branch offers. This not only ensures the livelihoods of farmer and rancher families, but also the affordability and availability of food for all families.

This week is U.S. Department of Agriculture's #AgOutlook Forum and Farm Credit is excited to participate! Yesterday, Gary Matteson, one of our experts in young, beginning and small farmer outreach, spoke to the Student Diversity Program and accompanied them on a visit to the House Agriculture Committee . Today, Joseph Deufel with AgStar Financial Services, ACA will discuss financing ag in tough times. Tomorrow, Mark Jensen of Farm Credit Services of America and Dean Benson of Northwest Farm Credit Services will address the importance of crop insurance. We’re proud to contribute to important conversations about the ag economy and policies affecting farmers and ranchers!

Farm Credit has joined with more than 200 organizations to send one, strong message to President Donald J. Trump and The White House – rebuild infrastructure in rural America. American agriculture feeds the world and creates millions of jobs for U.S. workers. The ability of rural communities to produce and transport food effectively depends not only on transportation improvements, but also on rural families’ access to broadband internet, affordable electricity, clean water and much more.
