I started Nan's Nummies at the Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market in 1988. After a couple of weeks there I just couldn't make cookies fast enough. I would sell out in 2 hours! So I started looking for a storefront and opened my store in Historic Valley Junction the following spring. I started with about 8 kinds of cookies and over the years have added about 8 more kinds of cookies, brownies and bars, Dutch Letters, candy and fudge. I have moved to bigger locations in Valley Junction twice and also expanded my current store twice! We also carry loads of chocolates, truffles and bulk candy including Jelly Belly’s and salt water taffy.
