The District of Columbia Center for Independent Living, Inc. (DCCIL) was established in April 1981 through Congressional Legislation to promote independent lifestyles for people with significant disabilities, assist persons with significant disabilities to meet their selected independent living goals and to mainstream people with disabilities into society. As a non-profit, community based, consumer-controlled, cross disability center, DCCIL is directed by and assists persons with disabilities to lead independent, productive lives.
