I have been in private practice for the past 29 years. My specialty is working with chronic health problems. I utilize standard medical laboratory tests and prescribe medications, nutritional supplements, and make dietary recommendations. I am assisted daily by my husband Darcy Elliott. Darcy not only supports me with managing my practice and helping my patients directly, but is also a practitioner of ancestral health and has a Masters Degree in Acupuncture.

Darcy and I have eaten a LCHF/ketogenic diet for many years and am a major proponent of some version of low carb eating for all of my patients. My preference is to work with people who are already eating this way , be it Paleo, Primal, Atkins, LCHF, or ketogenic, and are seeking additional help with optimizing their health.

When it comes to chronic health problems one size does not fit all and there are no miracle prescriptions that can apply to all patients, however there are many things that chronic illnesses often have in common.

1. Unfortunately many people struggle through life with less than optimal (low) thyroid function, because of this many of my patients are screened for this condition. Thyroid hormones impact every cell of your body and must be optimal in order to have a chance at feeling as good as you can. I use prescription thyroid medication to treat low thyroid function including Armour Thyroid, Synthroid, Levoxyl, Cytomel, etc. I do not use any herbal treatments for this problem.

2. Likewise an underlying gluten problem can seriously get in the way of the bodies ability to be healthy, so an intolerance to gluten must be investigated early on in our work together.

3. As stated above, I am a proponent of lower carbohydrate eating. Obesity and blood sugar problems are skyrocketing out of control in our Country and also contribute to many other chronic health problems.

4. Undiagnosed infections are also something I encounter frequently with my patients. I am a firm believer in thorough laboratory screening when it comes to things such as chronic gut problems.

Listed below are several of the types of conditions I work with and some very brief insights to some of their contributing causes.
