I joined Max Fitness in January of this year along with my 2 teenage kids. We are pretty delighted with it. I'm not a body builder, but have been athletic my whole life and was looking to add weightlifting back into by workout regimen.
After being members for several months, what I've found with Max Fitness is: (1) the cost is very reasonable ($35/mo for me + $15/mo for each family member) (2) there is plenty of modern equipment available even at peak times (3) the facility is clean and the staff is very friendly.
We live about 2 miles away and I can get a good workout in under an hour. I'm never stuck waiting for equipment. Personally I far prefer being part of a local gym vs. a chain as well.
There is a $75 enrollment fee (for the entire family) and you can go month-to-month for $35... only $5 per month more than the $30/month with a 12 month contract. Pretty reasonable.
