Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC) was incorporated June 6, 1983, as a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to create resource efficiency, environmental health, and economic vitality in the Kansas City region – and beyond. Over the past three decades, MEC has partnered with individuals, businesses, and local governments to clean the air coming from thousands of buildings and vehicles, all while raising awareness to improve the air quality for our entire region.
