Founded in 1971 by Richard W. Meyer and Richard Sorenson, the shop was originally known as R&R Bug Haus and specialized in Volkswagen automobiles. Meyer Import Service moved to its current location in the Sheboygan Falls North Industrial Park in 1974 and expanded their services to additional European and Japanese makes. Richard W. Meyer became the sole owner of the business in 1975, and the name officially changed to Meyer Import Service in 1980. In 1987, the shop expanded to accommodate increased business. David Schlieder has been employed by Meyer Import Service since 1971, and 2005 he earned the Bosch Master Technician certification. In 2014, he purchased the business to better serve his customers.
