St. Ignatius of Loyola Retreat
Friday September 9, 6:00pm to Sunday September 11, 2016, 12:30pm at Avila Retreat Center, 711 Mason Rd, Durham, NC 27712. The Retreat is open to both men and women.
Overview: This Ignatian weekend retreat will provide a 'flavor' for this body of official Church teaching that has been a part of the magisterium's teaching dating back to 1891. It will be based on Old Testament and New Testament passages as well as excerpts from various official documents, such as Vatican II, select papal encyclicals, pastoral letters of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and a Church Synod of Bishops.
Retreat Facilitator: Fr. Kirk Reynolds S.J. Most of his priestly life has been divided between parish and retreat work. His parish work consisted of five years in a formerly Jesuit and predominantly Hispanic, Church of the Nativity on the lower East Side of Manhattan and eight years (the last seven as pastor) at St. Anthony Parish on Long Island, New York. Fr. Reynolds spent two years (’84-’86) at St. Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, N.Y., giving retreats and doing spiritual direction. He has been on the staff of Loyola Jesuit Center in Morristown, N.J., since September of 2000, where he continues his retreat and spiritual direction ministry.
