Come on out Saturday, 9/16 between 11 am and 3 pm on the south lawn of the Visitors Center to create your own unique scarf at the free Natural Dyes Class hosted by BCHS! 500 scarves will be available for custom designs. Come early to snag yours! This event is partnering with the second day of Steps Through Time at the Bartholomew County Public Library. Come learn about local history and enjoy the Exhibit Columbus installations nearby!

Make sure to come to the Breeding Farm this Saturday for our Reeves Festival! There will be delicious BBQ served, wonderful music by the Banister Family Bluegrass Band, steam engine rides, blacksmithing demonstrations, tours of both the house and garden, and a petting zoo for the kids!
Area residents are invited to experience Bartholomew County history while enjoying a day in the country. Reeves Festival: Powering the Past is scheduled for Saturday, September 9 from 11:00-4:00 at the Henry Breeding Farm. Taking the place of the former Reeves Pancake Breakfast, the event will feature BBQ pork and chicken with traditional side dishes, wine and beer, home tours, and many activities for adults and children, including corn shelling and grinding and steam engine rides. Music will be provided by the Banister Family Bluegrass Band. The South Central Indiana Master Gardeners Association created new gardens at the Farm earlier this year and will offer tours and tastings of food prepared with local ingredients. The vast Reeves collection comprises the largest collection owned by the Historical Society. Several of these items will be on view at the event. Tickets are $10 for BCHS members, $12 for adults and $5 for children 3-12. Children under 3 will be admitted free. Advance tickets are available at the History Center or at the event. Come see this wonderful exhibit about the 7 National Historic Landmarks of Columbus. We will be hosting this exhibit until November 25!
Exhibit explores Columbus' seven National Historic Landmarks: First Christian Church, Irwin Conference Center, Miller House and Garden, McDowell Education Center, North Christian Church, First Baptist Church, and the former Republic building. Visit the Bartholomew County Historical Society during regular hours (9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday). Exhibit closes November 25.

Please make sure to come and see us on September 15th and 16th at the Bartholomew County Public Library! We will be one of many partnering with the BCPL in an event that showcases a very unique and diverse lineup of local history memorabilia!
Sponsored by Historic Columbus and the Bartholomew County Public Library Steps Through Time features over 18 participants including local collectors and museums. View exhibits/displays throughout the library and on the Plaza. As a bonus you can view a1/9 scale model of a B-17 bomber. You can also visit on September 15 from 9 AM to 3 PM.
