Family Outreach of Horry Cty

Family Outreach’s vision is to Strengthening the Roots of Families. We believe that it is easier to make a family strong than it is to fix a broken family. We work to help families navigate the stresses of family life through parenting education programs and workshops.

Within the branches of the Family Outreach tree are these areas:

1. Parenting Workshops- our certified parenting instructor works with parents to teach them positive parenting skills, how to raise your children to flourish and parent-child communication.

2. Parenting Education for Teens and Young Adult Moms (Parent-Friend)-working with area high schools and area community organizations-Family Outreach teaches teen parents how to parent, works to prevent repeat pregnancies, and helps teen parents complete their high school education and enter either into the work force or secondary education. We also pair teen moms with volunteer mentors. Pregnant Moms receiving our help also are given incentives to complete their prenatal care.

3. Preventive Education-for parents and teens-we work to teach age appropriate evidence based teen pregnancy prevention, and also work with parents on how to talk to their teens about sex.

4. Family Assistance-we have a diaper bank, along with infant food and formula and infant and toddler clothing for those in need.
