CEGO Custom Shirts was established in 1982. Owner Carl Goldberg, grew up working at his family's Philadelphia based Army & Navy surplus store. While selling blue jeans and work wear, his father, Charles Goldberg wore custom-made clothing of the highest quality. Carl was influenced by his father's sartorial expertise. Stints at Barneys downtown, running the special order department of a Brooklyn based suit factory, and selling woolens to custom tailors completed his early work experience leading up to the start of the business.
CEGO has offered New Yorkers the “best-value custom shirts possible” (New York Magazine). CEGO's shirts have appeared in leading Broadway productions (Tony-winner “Memphis”, “Wicked”, “Spring Awakening”); on television shows (Life on Mars, Boardwalk Empire); films; and in leading fashion houses.
