Campers are coming, campers are coming! 18 campers start arriving at 9:45 this morning. All should arrive by noon. It's a cloudy day, but hopefully no rain. Pray for a great start to this first week. Pray for good communication between campers and staffers - especially first-year staffers who may be a little nervous as they get started. Pray for Kyle (Program Director) as he adjusts to whatever weather and other changes might be needed (too cool to swim today?). Pray for Tara as she teaches the first chapel this evening - that campers will hear and understand God's Word. Thanks for your prayers!

Final morning of orientation. Tim and Kathy Sheetz are at camp today after their trip to CA for their granddaugher's wedding last Sat. At 10:30, Tim shares about the broader ministries of HVMI (beyond Handi*Camp) so staffers will have an understanding of all that we do in the mission. Kyle shares briefly about our Property Project and opportunities for service in HVMI. Tara takes care of some documentation we need for our records to prove to inspectors what was taught in our training. At 11 am, Board Member Dick Esher shares from the perspective of a parent of one of our campers (Bible Conf-1 guest Janel) to give summer staffers that unique view (we're thankful for other parents of our campers who have come for this 20-min presentation in past years). Then the morning concludes with our own worship service (worship led by Tara, message by Tim). We're thankful for these days of preparation. Keep praying for each staffer as many stay for week one and some depart to return for future weeks of ministry.

It's Orientation Saturday! Kyle is doing a lot of teaching today - Safety Techniques (starting now), R-E-S-P-E-C-T (11:45), Need for Physical Care (2:45) and Lifts & Transfers (3:45-taking over for me this year). Both those afternoon sessions include some hands-on practice times. There are small group meetings at 10:45 and 6:45 (staffers meeting by position groups for specific discussion and preparation and training). This evening's other session is Creating Community (led by Jackie, with Leah and Tara). Please continue praying for God to draw the staff team together in unity and purpose and that each one would be prepared for their important role over the next 6 weeks. The Staff Leadership Team will meet later in the evening to make camper/counselor assignments for this first camp week - pray for wisdom. Thanks!

Tara Kelley's summer "Step by Step" prayer letter is posted on her missionary page of our website (https://www.hvmi.org/tara-kelley) - click the link below her photo there to open the letter. She shares that the Handi*Camp theme this summer is "God Guides Us." The articles of her letter give details about that guidance in every direction as it relates to her and to ministry events this summer and beyond. Check out the details! Pray for Tara as she leads the camp staff on this 2nd full day of Orientation. She teaches "Sharing the Gospel" this afternoon including some how-to practice on using tools and easy-to-understand language to help staffers be prepared to share the plan of salvation with their campers this summer. Other sessions will be taught by Leah, Jackie, Meghan and two devotional times by HVMI Board Member Rev Jeff Hartman. Thanks for your continued prayers for our staffers!
Meet Handi*Vangelism Ministries International (H*VMI) missionary, Tara Kelley.

Rainy morning at Handi*Camp Staff Orientation. I kicked off today with a 9:45 session laying the groundwork of why we have Handi*Camp and some history, philosophy, and the heart of what we're doing. Mark Amey (Meeting Our Basic Needs at camp), Kyle Robinson (A day in the Life of H*C) and Christine Whiting (Meet our Campers/Guests) continued with sessions through the morning. The rain is moving our staff picnic indoors and we're adjusting some time this afternoon instead of trying some outdoor activities (even though the rain may be over by then). Schedules are always adjustable for weather and other things. Thanks for your prayers for us!
