The City of Chelsea is seeking to attract new development while improving city services, increasing civic pride, and generally raising the profile of the city.
Future projects include:
• Extension of the silver line to Chelsea
o $20 million for new rail station for the silver line
o $3 million for greenway along parts of the silver line corridor
• New development
o FBI headquarters, employing 500 people (permitted)
o Beech Street Hotel (in preliminary design)
o Possible residential, retail, and office space at the Mystic Mall Site
The city is focusing future development in West Chelsea. BUT there is still much to be determined about development in Chelsea. A team from Harvard is providing urban planning support for the city.
