Third Church

At Third Lutheran Church we live our love and diversity every day. Not only do we joyfully welcome all regardless of race or culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or relationship status, but we represent that rainbow of God’s love and beautiful spectrum of creation.
We are gay. We are biracial. We are retired. We are transgender. We are adopted. We are homeless. We are in diapers. We are divorced. We are disabled. We are children, parents, grandparents and great grandparents. We are students, nurses, financial planners, store managers, seminarians, executive assistants, social workers, unemployed, engineers, strategists and caregivers. We are beloved children of God, and so are you.
We are Christians who accept the teachings of Martin Luther (1483 – 1546). As a community of the people of God, we are called to minister to all people of our world, knowing that the world is often an unloving place. Christ calls us to reconciliation and wholeness. We are challenged by the Gospel to be agents of healing within our society.
An open and inclusive congregation in the ELCA, Third Lutheran is a member of Reconciling Works, UCHM, and CLOUT. We worship at 2800 Frankfort Avenue and share a campus with St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Crescent Hill Baptist Church. By sharing in this space, we are reminded that love united is always stronger than division, and we are empowered to focus our energy and stewardship on carrying mercy and justice to the community.
